Hacer Group Partners with Kinaway!

Overview of the Partner’s business

Hacer first ‘broke ground’ in Melbourne in 2000, quickly growing a multi-faceted business by offering clients a fully-integrated end-to-end design and construct service. 24 years later, we are renowned for the highest level of expertise and experience, having successfully built projects for a range of major Australian companies.

How has the Partner engaged with the Indigenous sector?

In 2023, we launched our inaugural Reflect RAP, which is currently in progress. We have partnered with the Killara Foundation, who have supported us through various initiatives, including providing Cultural Training & Education for our internal employees.  Additionally, we engaged Indigenous artist Emma Hollingsworth, who created a personalized Indigenous artwork for Hacer.

Why did the Partner sign up with Kinaway? What was the driving factor?

Kinaway is a good fit for us – not only do we get hands on support where we need it, but we can trust Kinaway in supporting and growing local Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander businesses.

What is the Partner’s mission or aim in supporting the Indigenous economy? How will Kinaway member businesses benefit from this partnership?

We believe that reconciliation is not just a moral imperative but a strategic imperative.

We believe there are significant opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in construction, whether through education or employment of business partnerships.  We want to use our influence and leverage to drive meaningful change in our industry.

How does the partner hope to benefit from the partnership with Kinaway?

To be able to identify opportunities and build long term meaningful partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses.

RAP Artwork by Emma Hollingsworth

Emma Hollingsworth is a Kaanju, Kuku Ya’u, Girramay woman who grew up in tropical far north Queensland. Her work tells her own story of a young Indigenous woman growing up and paving a path in a modern world, and all of the trials and tribulations that go in hand with that.

About the Artwork as per our RAP

This art piece represents connection and community, and it honours the Land that we all reside on, and its first people who have been Custodians over it for thousands of years.

This land provides for us, and we in turn must nurture it. The ‘u’ shapes in the artwork represent mob living on Country and caring for it. The concentric circles represent Hacer paying their respects and meeting with mob to yarn and speak about important things. The

lines going outwards represent Hacer’s journey to understanding and building relationships with the First Nations people of this country.

This artwork acknowledges and pays respect to the many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and serves as a reminder that the Land always was and always will be Aboriginal Land.
