TSA Riley Partners with Kinaway!

Overview of the Partner’s business

TSA Riley is a global project consulting firm with over 130 years of expertise in built assets. We’re on a mission to help clients and communities realise the transformative power of their built assets. We provide expert strategic, commercial and operations advice, project and cost management, carbon advice, and dispute resolution – and much more. We combine this with hands-on experience and personalised service to drive greater value, impact and certainty for our clients’ projects, globally.

How has the Partner engaged with the Indigenous sector?

TSA Riley began our reconciliation journey with the ‘Reflect’ Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), endorsed by Reconciliation Australia. Currently we’re in the ‘Innovate’ phase. Our RAP Working Group has set ambitious targets, focusing on community engagement, cultural awareness, and including Indigenous perspectives in our operations.

We undertake initiatives and activities to support and strengthen our relationship with Indigenous communities including the annual National Reconciliation Week and NAIDOC Week events. These feature webinars, guest speakers, educational sessions, and localised cultural experiences to educate and inform our people and foster inclusivity.  We also participate in fundraising activities. Most recently, our Newcastle team raised over $5,000 for the Ikara-Flinders Ranges Challenge, supporting Indigenous students through scholarships and Indigenous communities through health research.

We have developed Aboriginal Participation Plans for major projects including WestConnex and Tweed Valley Hospital. Through our work on the Regional Rail and Inland Rail projects, we actively support the implementation of our client’s participation plans. Internally, we’ve created a project resource that maps the Traditional Custodians of the country / land within TSA Riley’s operational areas. This map covers our project sites and links to information about each area’s Traditional Owners. Our people use this resource to ensure every TSA Riley project responds to, respects and champions local Indigenous communities.

Why did the Partner sign up with Kinaway? What was the driving factor?

TSA Riley’s vision for reconciliation is a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people’s cultures, knowledge, and connection to land and waters are respected, celebrated and upheld. TSA Riley aims to leave a positive legacy for those who live in the communities we help create. This can only be achieved by acknowledging, engaging, and partnering with Traditional Custodians. Kinaway’s reputation as a respected charity with well-established and authentic Indigenous networks empowers us to make a meaningful impact.

What is the Partner’s mission or aim in supporting the Indigenous economy? How will Kinaway member businesses benefit from this partnership?

AT TSA Riley, we want to drive equality by involving Aboriginal and First Nations businesses in our own supply chain, as well as influencing the many project partners with whom we work. By partnering with Kinaway, we will use their supplier register and seek guidance on how best to do this in a meaningful and sustainable way. Our ultimate aim is to ensure that all the projects we work on play a part in supporting the Indigenous economy.

How does the partner hope to benefit from the partnership with Kinaway?

We intend to be an active Kinaway partner, with senior TSA Riley representatives engaging closely with our Kinaway partnerships manager and regularly attending networking and promotional events aimed at supporting Indigenous businesses.

We will use our membership to further educate and engage our people about Indigenous culture, including the wide range of opportunities that working with Indigenous businesses can create.

We recognise that supporting Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander communities is an ongoing journey, and there will always be more work to do. With Kinaway’s guidance, we are confident and hopeful that the opportunities we create for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses will create sustainable success and leave a positive legacy.
