Showtime Event Group Partners with Kinaway
Showtime Event Group (SEG) is a prominent end to end event management company. We operate a range of owned and leased venues across Melbourne. We are known for our expertise in creating and delivering exceptional events, from corporate events to weddings and large precinct events. With a strong focus on innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction, Showtime Event Group has established itself as a true leader in the events space.
SEG has and will continue to engage with the Indigenous sector in a variety of ways, showcasing our commitment to reconciliation and cultural inclusivity. Below is a case study of a recent event we hosted where we worked in collaboration with a number of local Indigenous suppliers and performers.
The Visit Victoria annual Destination Victoria conference networking party brought together Victoria’s tourism and events industry, offering a platform for professionals to connect and collaborate. With the conference held during the day at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC), SEG’s venue, Aerial, was perfectly located with outstanding amenities. Strategically, this made it the ideal choice for the networking event.
Peoples and Local Suppliers
The event celebrated Victoria’s cultural diversity by incorporating First Peoples and local suppliers. This inclusivity was primarily achieved through the careful selection of products and suppliers, creating an authentic and meaningful experience for attendees.
Kiernan Ironfiled, a Dharug man and a professional Yidaki/Didgeridoo player, greeted guests with a feature performance which set the tone for an evening of connection. Miss Dee, a Torres Strait Islander Melbourne based singer, guitarist and DJ, entertained guests with an ambient acoustic set and her infectious energy and stage presence.
Styling elements, including florals inspired by First Nations, added a touch of cultural significance to the event, reflecting the commitment to honouring local traditions.
Experiences
The cocktail event at Aerial showcased interactive food stations, including a wok station and a create-your-own dessert station. These culinary experiences engaged attendees, stimulating networking discussions and creating a memorable experience. Native treats from Pawa Catering & Events, a local Indigenous supplier, were featured at a dedicated food station, celebrating Victoria’s rich Indigenous heritage. Taka Gin Co. offered First Nations inspired gin, featuring native botanicals.
Also included within our proposal, were options to the client to choose from Jarrah Boy beer, local Port Phillip Bay oyster stations and local meet with wine maker experiences.
SEG recognised the value of partnering with Kinaway due to its deep expertise in supporting Indigenous businesses and promoting economic development within the Indigenous community. The driving factor behind this partnership is a shared commitment to reconciliation and a desire to actively contribute to the growth and success of Indigenous businesses. Kinaway's extensive network and resources in the Indigenous business community made it a natural choice for SEG to further our engagement in this sector.
By actively involving Indigenous businesses and talent in our events as demonstrated in the case study, SEG not only promotes economic opportunities but also raises awareness of Indigenous culture and heritage. Through our partnership with Kinaway, we aim to expand these opportunities to a broader network of Indigenous businesses, fostering economic empowerment and a more inclusive business environment.
SEG hopes to benefit from their partnership with Kinaway in several ways. First and foremost, we aim to strengthen our commitment to reconciliation and social responsibility by actively engaging with more Indigenous businesses and communities. Additionally, we anticipate that this partnership will enhance our own business operations by fostering innovation and diversity. SEG also sees the potential for increased market reach and brand recognition through our association with Kinaway and its member businesses.
